Waller prefers blacks and double blacks (expert runs) and hopefully late spring conditions still allow for great skiing on the upper slopes of the resort. Waller also prefers to hike and ski the backcountry lines off Brian Head peak by going out the gates at the top of Giant Steps Express. Backcountry skiing requires avalanche rescue gear (beacon, shovel, probe) and knowledge of use. Lines off Brian Head peak are steep and rocky and ascent often requires ice ax and crampons. Checking in with patrol at the top of Giant Steps is a great way to get daily avalanche and snow conditions.

Waller will likely drive to Brian Head resort the day before and camp in the parking lot in her RV.
