| Saturday June 15 to Sunday June 17th was a planned Flaming Gorge Section A float. A storm cell came in and threaten the trip with big wind gusts and hail. Kay, Arnie, Luke, Angel, Mike, Madison, Frank, Jennifer, June, Diana, Erik, Jay, Kathy, Chris, Shannon, Erik, Dea, Phillipe, Steve, Jodie, Jin, Adam, Lauren, Emily, and Kyle all stayed at the Dripping Springs Group Campground - the only one without any shade. While planned for boating - ranging from duckies to a canoe - it became a multisport weekend! The WMC had four people register as new members to join the trip. Saturday, 14 people floated Section A of the green river in two groups. 1 person flipped and recovered. Another group of four took their kayaks out and paddled to Kingfisher island in the reservoir. Sunday, a group of three floated Sections A and B. 21 ran Section A - to help with the shuttles one trail ran back up the boat put in! One took out the mountain bike, a few took our their fishing rods, and others took their paddling to Cart Bridge, under it, and up the creek. Some even went to the range and did some shooting. Monday, we scattered to the wind while some floated Section A again, others went hiking, fishing, or biking. We saw a bald eagle perched right above the river on the A section, Osprey, Antelope, Prong Horn Sheep, Blue Heron, and more. More importantly, we struggled with the existential question over the best manner to eat an ear of corn: along the kernels like a typewriter or around the cob in a circle? Luke desperately needs to hear from the club; what is the best way to eat corn? |
