| The trafic was not bad driving from West valley made in 20 min. The parking lot at the trailhead had 25 cars parked. Rahul Mandava, a new member and student at UofU he is from India and I picked them up at Decker Lake and rode with me. We got to the parking lot and Matt Wacitowak soon followed. At 6:31 more Clubbers showed up:Jim, Kim, Pratima and David, After the proper introduction we headed for the trail but we went up counterclockwise, it shadier and the trail runs along the creek for a cooler hike. Honestly I was not quite sure we would find the trail. The description in All Trail does say x the trail is not well marked" we found out pretty soon after 20 min of hike. We crossed the creed because according to the map we need to head north, north -east. Well after crossing the creek we found ourselves bushwhacking in think vegetation and poison ivy. Oh, no! We crossed other hikes and asked if they found the Cave and the Meditation Rock but they did not go high enough and knew nothing about it. They had no idea there is a cave and that meditation rock along the Loop. Back to bushwhacking we thrusted through the forest and I could feel the people uncertain and struggling a bit to go over rocks and broken tree branches, me too. We decided to turn back to our tracks and followed back one of the many trails that lead back to the parking lot. I apologized and even if I researched before the hike and asked around no one was able to show me the right away for the loop. It was still fun and everyone was still delighted they did the hike. I promised I will find the Cave and the Meditation Rock and the Loop then I will post the hike again. Getting together and meeting people is still the best part of joining the hikes or any Club activities for that matter. Cheers! |
