Lets go paddling locally!!! :) Paddle Jordan River

Nine paddlers gathered at Willow Park in Lehi on a Saturday afternoon, eager to tackle a stretch of the Jordan River. We took a brief look at the water level of the river and mostly agreed this was a good idea. One lone dissenter decided err on the side of caution and head home. The rest of us thought they were being silly.

We shuttled a few miles upstream to a boat launch and set off, but it took less than a quarter-mile to realize we'd made an error. The river quickly gave way to thick, relentless mud. We pushed through for a stretch, optimistic that the channel might clear, but it soon became obvious that continuing forward would turn a quick paddle into an exhausting slog.

Admitting defeat, we turned back and paddled a short distance past the launch toward the Utah Lake dam before finally calling it quits. It's clear that water levels are exceptionally low this year, and it appears the gates at the dam haven't been opened for the season yet. If you want to get on the water, be sure to scout as best you can before embarking.
