BOATING 07/18/2026 Class III

We started this adventure Friday 7/17 at the Sand Wash boat ramp. We loaded and dropped the boats in the river the night before and stayed in the screened cabins. The mosquitos were not too bad, but we were prepared. We departed 7/18 after the chat with the on duty BLM ranger who stressed the importance of leave no trace.

This trip occurred during a heat wave. The high temp on the trip was 106 degrees and the nights did not provided much relief. We had a downpour or two, but we had thunderstorms in the area every night. We made several stops along the way to check out ancient petroglyphs and ranch buildings.

The wind was constantly an issue and the low flows (2200 cfs) made for some challenging moments. We scouted a few of the Class III rapids so there were no surprises. We all took turns with out meals. After 6 days we emerged on the other side in Green River, UT. Half of the group went to Ray's for lunch before heading home.
