| This was a fun traverse with some good scrambling. We started at Snowbird and took the Peruvian Gultch Trail to the Cirque Trail which we took to the summit of Hidden Peak. There are other routes as well to take to the summit but we felt the route we took was more scenic. There were some scatted snow patches on the way to Hidden Peak but nothing significant. The restaurant was unlocked on the summit at 730 am and so we were able to refill water and have a bathroom break; this could make for a nice stop on other trips for bathroom/hydration. The traverse to AF Twins had some fun scrambling with some exposed areas. The ascent to AF twins after the scrambling is very loose. The traverse from East Twin to Red Top was pretty mellow. The traverse from Red Top to the saddle with Red Baldy was annoying talus. Red Baldy East Ridge had some class 3/4 and was an excellent scramble with a very nice summit. We descended the north ridge and then the northwest face to get to White Pine Lake trail, which we took back to make a loop. The descent on the northwest face of Red Baldy was very steep and hard on the knees. Great views and great scrambling on this trip. |
