Trip Report: Trail Running - Alta/ Brighton Ridge Peaks

Trail Running - Alta/ Brighton Ridge Peaks

RUN 09/15/2026 MSD

This was the first outing of the new Mountain Running Series I'll be posting! Chase Tharp joined me for an after-work loop from the Grizzly Gulch trailhead, climbing to Twin Lakes Pass before following the ridge over Patsy Marley, Wolverine, and Tuscarora Peaks to Catherine's Pass. From there, we descended through Albion Basin and ran the trails back to the car. Nothing like a fun evening in the mountains!

The Mountain Running Series will be posted periodically for people interested in building fitness, durability, and community for trail races, peakbagging, fastpacking, scrambling, mountaineering, and other mountain objectives. Expect steady movement, limited breaks, and a mix of running and fast hiking, with outings ranging from straightforward trail runs to steeper summit days, scrambling, rough trails, and off-trail travel.

These probably won't fall on a perfectly consistent day or time, so if this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to contact me. I'd be interested to know what days, times, and types of outings people are interested in.

Winter will involve some less-glamorous Grandeur or Wire laps to keep the fitness up, while spring and summer should bring bigger objectives, including peakbagging and fastpacking trips!
