ninety pound rucksack challenge: evening skin/ski at park city - February 18, 2026

Looking for a ski mountaineering challenge that honors the legacy of the 10th Mountain Division, their historic World War II ascent of Italy's Riva Ridge (1,500'), and their post-war contributions to American skiing? Why not try the Ninety Pound Rucksack Challenge! Participants can carry their regular kit, a percentage of their body weight, or no weight at all (you don't need to carry a 90lb backpack!)

When: Meet at 6:30pm and skin/hike up starts at 7:00pm
Where: Park City Resort - Mountain Village, base of First Time lift

Who: WMC organizer is Dave Ashley, retired military veteran. Please RSVP via EMAIL to meet up with Dave. Include uphill modality (ski or hike and carry skis), weight goal, and elevation gain goal.
Free Event: Pre-register with NPR for the challenge here

Route Details: Homerun Trail (1.5 miles one way, 1,000 feet gain, green ski run). Participants can complete one, 1.5, or two full laps to reach 1,000 to 2,000 feet of vertical gain. While ascending, participants must stay climbers left and stop at the Angle Station. Wear brightly colored clothing, HEADLAMP/taillight, and reflective materials. Review PCMR Uphill Safety Policies.
