day hike - portal benchmark - October 3, 2026
Portal Benchmark (8891 ft) is located in the west of Strawberry Reservoir. I have hiked in the area but not to the peak. There is a trail to the summit on the map. But I am not sure if the trail is well maintained. If the group feels this is too short, we will explore other bumps on the ridgeline. Distance depending on how much the trail is maintained and how many bumps we want to make. Elevation gain is not a lot. Please bring 10 essentials. Please email before Friday, 6 pm, Oct 2, for the meeting place and time. Registration is required. Registration priority will be given to WMC members. Registrants will receive more detailed info. Limit 8.
