fall foliage mini peak bagging day hike - October 4, 2026
This is a mellower version of Brad's hike offered on the same day. We will hike through peak fall foliage terrain and climb Soldier, Wilson, Gobblers Knob and (optionally) Circle Awl along the way. We will be doing a loop that starts and ends at the Butler Fork Trailhead. The hike will be off trail or on goat trails for a significant portion of the route. Be prepared for a steep climb in places and a longer day with ups and downs along the ridge. Pace will be moderate. This trip is borderline MSD-, but I'm calling it MOD+ since we can slow the pace down if need be. If people are keen, we can also add Reynold's Peak (which adds an extra mile and 500 feet of vertical and bumps us to an MSD-)
Please bring adequate food and water, sun protection, a warmer layer and a windproof jacket. (Fleece gloves can be nice if you get cold hands.) Please email me to let me know you will be coming and where you will be meeting me. If you plan to drive up the canyon, as far as I have been able to determine online, a parking pass is not required at the Butler Fork trailhead (but I will be displaying mine regardless).| Level: | MOD+ |
