"Do the Book, Live the Legacy"!: A Premier 5-day/4-night point-to-point Yellowstone backpack with a car shuttle: Waterfalls, Soaking pools, Bechler Meadows, Bears, and a historic Ranger Station, Oh My! One night with a car camp at a Falls River Campground in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Swimming available. This trip includes: 1) 'Off-trail travel' as entry point on an abandoned U.S.F.S. logging road (5 miles) to reach the Park boundary (This has been NPS Backcountry Ranger approved!) and the Buffalo Lake Trailhead; 2) Dunanda Falls; 3) A warm pools soak; 4) The famous Union Falls ('lay-over day'); 5) A finish at the historic Bechler Ranger Station Complex. We will average 10 miles a day between campsites. A 2nd car camp night (optional) at the Falls River Campground is available before driving back to SLC. Previous experience with lightweight (not 'ultra-light') backpacking required. All participants will be required to carry bear spray on their body while hiking. WMC members will be given priority to register up to September 1 (Trip minimum: 3 participants by September 5, or trip subject to cancellation; Maximum: 7).
