day hike - butler fork loop - September 15, 2026

This will be a clock-wise loop: up the west fork trail to meet the Desolation trail, heading east on that one to descend the east fork trail. It may be a bit early for fall foliage color - but we will surely look. A good section of the Desolation trail is very quiet and peaceful.
