This hike ended up being just me and Russell Patterson, as others were discouraged by heat and yukky air. A morning shower cooled and cleared the air. As I was staying at a cabin near the top of Porter Fork, I drove down to the gate and picked up Russell to start the hike at the top of the road (meaning I had to hike back up later, but that was ok). There was one flower meadow after another and we had a relaxed and enjoyable day. Too bad I can't seem to upload photos via the WMC website.
