Seeking cooler temperatures, a group of seventeen climbers spent the weekend at some crags off of the Mirror Lake highway in the Uintas. The group slowly trickled into the Cliff Lake climbing area Saturday morning and spent the day sending sport routes. This is one of the more scenic climbing crags that I’ve ever been to. Despite worries that the Climber’s Alliance festival would crowd us out, the wall was easily able to accommodate both groups. An early afternoon thunderstorm sent us into a protected little alcove where we watched the storm quickly roll through and clear up. Eventually we made our way to our campsite at Trial Lake for an evening campfire dinner party. Sunday morning we went to Mosquito wall, which was small but perfect for the amount of time we had. We set up a handful of routes until early afternoon and then drove home. |
