| After organizing a beginner backpacking tutorial last month (along with Jen Baker), there was lots of excitement for a beginner level backpacking trip. I took a group of eight up Grove Canyon in Utah County. The start was steep and hot. When we reached Indian Spring, we found a shady spot to set up camp. In the evening we did an out and back hike on Timpooneke Road. The next morning we crossed over to Battle Creek Canyon and hiked back down to Utah valley and used the BST to return to the cars. This is a great, short loop with an amazing campsite, nice water source, and plentiful deer. |
