| Hello This is a combined trip report. The first one was on 11/24 and Paige Williams an I went for the hike. Sorry but I have misplaced the disclaimer form. It was great day to hike. At firs the fog set in and we could not see a thing down the valley but then the fog disappeared and the view or the Oquirrh Montain came into view and it was spectacular. It was a spectacular hike , the tress were all covered with snow and icicles. The snow was so fresh that built up under our microspikes and it felt we were walking on high heels and we kept shaking our feet or stumping on the trail or on the side of a rock. We were funny to look at like we were dancing with funny body twists. We did not go all the way but we stopped at the highest point before the trail winds down to Peets's Rock. We sipped a hot home made apple cider and enjoyed the view of the city. We crossed few people along the trail that had the same great ides to be out in nature that day. The second trip to this same trail was on 12/1 and I have the pleasure to have our fearless leader and Hiking Director Frank Bauchard and with the lovely and energetic Leslie Woods, Erin Graham who just joined the Club that morning.Way to go Erin! and my very supporting Tony Hellman. This time the weather was beautiful and sunny but we also started later that day. The trees were even more beautiful because this time crystals were formed on the branches of the trees creating a magical atmosphere. This is a great hike short and sweet to take someone visiting you out of state, because you can really see the entire Salt Lake valley and the downtown skyscrapers. |
