| The idea for this trip was hatched at the new-member social when Donna asked me how to get to Cecret Lake. Donna is over 80 but still very active, so I posted the trip as a slow-paced climb to the lake for a picnic lunch. Beth (also almost 80) and a couple of "youngsters" (Katherine and Chris) joined as well. We had a nice sunny day and a pleasant skin up to the lake. Chris needed to get back early and went to the top of Sugarloaf, while the rest of us soaked in the views and the sunshine at Cecret Lake. We had a minor equipment issue with Katherine's binding and were saved by a Swiss army knife belonging to another hiker who happened to be at the lake. The ski down was quite enjoyable and the snow conditions were surprisingly good, with just one short 20 yard section of dirt to cross near Alfs. Everyone made it down with no falls. This was a great way to end the 2025 ski season. (My plan for this to be the last ski outing was upended the following weekend, as you will see if you read the next report.) |
