Alpine snow skills

Late Spring may seem a strange time for a snow outing in the Wasatch, but it's also a narrow window to dial in skills one might take to bigger hills elsewhere. Using an early start to catch the firmest snow - we covered a variety of topics: When and how to use crampons (and just as important - when *not* to use them), how to move efficiently on different slope angles using a variety of footwork techniques, and how to self-arrest or arrest a partner who has fallen - including some tug-of-war games! Overall, folks had a blast and came off the slopes feeling much more confident and prepared for mountain objectives where negotiating glacier and snow terrain is a factor.
