What normally would have been a cakewalk through an avalanche mitigated playground became a trudge requiring teamwork with perhaps a few moments a trepidation for some. Our crew of 10 ranged from rank amateur to outright badass. It was a beautiful Spring day in a very pretty place, and it was great to hang with a buncha new people. Everyone took turns breaking trail up to Sugarloaf, and some folks took their first plunge steps on the way off it. Thank God there was a skier bootpack that took us up to Baldy, where we lollygagged on the big wooden bench. The adventure wasn't over, as the organizer followed some skiers and took a steep "first time" descent into Collins. We were all glad to be back on the groomers heading down after a rewarding day in the hills. |
