Come Join the GOAT challenges. It is to hike to the highest point in every county starting in 2026 and finishing up by December 2027. Look for previous posts for other peaks.
Camp in Bountiful Camp ground. Thurston Peak (9,706 ft) is the highest point in both Davis and Morgan County. This is one of the easier county high points to summit in Utah. It is approximately 1,700 feet of elevation and over 4.2 miles. We will also try to get Layton and North Layton Peaks too. Part of the route follows the historic Great Western Trail, a long distance trail system stretching from Canada to Mexico. Need a high clearance vehicle and a 4X4.
Camp rates are $21.34 per night and are first come first serve campsites.
Dates TBF. Watching wildflower season, fires, and weather before firming up the dates and logistics. Please email if interested.
