alta alpine ski resort hike-to terrain afternoon - February 4, 2026
The best skiing at Alta right now is the north-facing hike-to terrain (inbounds). Plan on doing a few laps on Catherine's and Devil's Castle, interspersed with a combination of blues and blacks, but rest assured that we will avoid the truly humongous moguls that look like upside down row boats!
Please arrive geared up (ski pass/helmet/goggles/gloves/skis/poles...) and ready to hit the slopes. Note that the hike-to terrain is inbounds and no avalanche gear is required. The hikes are very short - less than 100 feet of vertical required! Either side-stepping or boot packing works.
