desolation lake fall colors day hike - September 27, 2026
From the Jordan Pines (Mill D) parking lot in BCC, we will hike up the Mill D trail and join the Desolation Trail to Desolation Lake. From the lake there is an option for a short add-on to gain the ridge on the Wasatch Crest if people are interested. We expect that the colors, while not quite at their peak yet, will still be good as there are many aspens along the way. Expect a relaxed pace that will accommodate older joints.
Please bring adequate food and water, sun protection, a warm layer and a rain jacket as the forecast for Sunday calls for cooler temperatures and a 30% chance of precipitation. Fleece gloves are nice if you get cold hands. Please email us to let us know you will be coming and where you will be meeting us. If you plan to drive up the canyon, please note that you will need a parking pass. (Please bring a pass if you have one in case someone else can use it.)| Level: | MOD- |
