| Hiking tip: if you live in downtown SLC or are limited to public transportation, City Creek Canyon is one of the easiest ways to get onto a hiking trail. From Memory Grove Park, right next to the state capitol, just head up the canyon. The city sprawl is quickly replaced by serene forests and mountains. When a group of us recently spent a chilly Friday morning doing that, we were limited because certain areas were closed for construction. But we managed to use a section of the BST to extend our hike and make a 5-mile loop. Mud season has arrived and our shoes went home a shade or two darker than they had arrived. |
