Intro To Alpine Rock Skills

CLIMBING 06/17/2026 ALL

We had a great turnout for this "ground school" event - 14 climbers in total - with several of them eyeing up bigger trips later in the summer climbing season! The evening kicked off with a short lecture on the competing risk management demands that often separate alpine climbing from a day at the crag and how advanced techniques can, with practice, manage risks across varied terrain. We then launched into systems for shortening and lengthening ropes, how to break up terrain into short-pitches, how to make effective use of terrain and body belays, and even ran a simul-climbing circuit alongside the wall. It was a fast-paced night of learning, facilitated by a rockstar team and loads of good questions!
